Engineer

As a designer with Federal VET Diploma, you will design and construct individual parts and assemblies for devices, machines and production systems. With the help of CAD programs, you will create design drawings on the computer and draw up technical documents.

Main tasks

Developing mechanical equipment, machinery and equipment, as well as tools and production equipment; modeling and drawing individual parts and assemblies using computers; calculating parts; sketching designs by hand; developing concepts with designers and producers; realizing customer requests; creating documents for manufacturing, assembly and operation

Requirements

Secondary school qualification with very good grades in mathematics (geometry), nature and technology (physics); good grades in English; technical understanding; ability to imagine things spatially; understanding of abstract relationships; enjoyment of precise and careful working methods; independence, patience, perseverance and concentration; ability to work in a team; organizational skills; reliability; enjoyment of computer work

Duration: 4 years, training location for apprentices from Heerbrugg and Altstätten: Buchs (SG), training location for apprentices from Flawil: Uzwil
