As a polymechanic with Federal VET Diploma, you will independently manufacture workpieces on state-of-the-art computer-controlled machines; manufacture tools and equipment for production; assemble and repair equipment, apparatus, machinery and equipment.

Main tasks

Turning; drilling; milling; manual manufacturing; measuring; programming computer-controlled machines; manufacturing tools and products from various materials; participating in the development, manufacturing and assembly of tools and products; adjusting machines and performing test runs; monitoring production processes; testing products; assembling, putting into operation and repairing equipment and machines

Requirements

Secondary school qualification with excellent grades in mathematics, as well as nature and technology, and good grades in English; technical understanding; ability to imagine things spatially; understanding of abstract relationships; good craftsmanship; enjoyment of precise and careful working methods; independence; patience, perseverance and concentration; ability to work in a team; organizational skills; reliability; enjoyment of using machines and installations

Duration: 4 years; training location for apprentices from Heerbrugg and Altstätten: Buchs (SG), training location for apprentices from Flawil: Uzwil
