As an automation engineer with Swiss Federal VET Diploma (EFZ), you will develop and build electrical control and automation systems. But you will also build automatic systems, put them into operation, carry out repairs and prepare technical documents.

Main tasks

Installing and assembling electrical equipment and systems; developing, building, wiring and testing electrical and electronic controls, apparatus, machinery and automation systems; constructing, wiring and programming (PLC); localizing and rectifying faults; carrying out inspection, maintenance and repair work; preparing technical documentation and instructions; drawing up diagrams

Requirements

Secondary school qualification with an affinity for mathematics, nature and technology; technical understanding; interest in new technology; understanding of abstract interrelationships; a good imagination; craftsmanship; enjoyment of precise and careful working methods; patience and perseverance; independence; reliability
